This little track grabbed my attention this morning. Those whispery vocals over that beat is the coolest intro to a track I’ve heard in a while. I almost manged to pretend it was summer while driving to work with a heater on.

Bears Den are three guys formed in West London into a pretty fine little alternative folk band. I heard these guys on a Radio 1 In Session show a few weeks ago. I actually stayed in the car to listen to another song as I instantly loved them. There’s a definite air of the likes of Mumford and Sons and Bombay Bicycle Club and that’s … Continue reading Above the Clouds of Pompeii
Two posts in one day! Shock horror, these ones are kinda time depend though so can’t wait till next week. My last top three, the bittersweet ones, including my absolute favourite Christmas songs, I’m a soppy soul. I know your supposed to save the best for last but I can’t resist. My all time favourite Christmas song, in fact I’d listen to it all year … Continue reading Fairytale of New York
So I may have been a little preoccupied with Barcelona travel guides and holiday clothes over the weekend to write up my new music monday post. This little track from Irish artist Hozier and I’ve been in love with for a while. Its already been a massive hit in his native Ireland and I heard it online some where a few months ago. This morning I … Continue reading Take me to Church
I had a funky track all lined up for today’s new music Monday, but I spent the weekend watching sport and last night drinking cocktails and didn’t write it up, doh! So here’s a little bit of Paolo instead. I absolutely love him and have done since I first heard, Last Request. His new album is nothing short of brilliant. I’ve been listening to it … Continue reading Numpty
It’s a bank holiday Monday and the sun is out, I’m sorry if you’re stuck at work. Time for a little change of pace for today’s new music Monday. I heard this track on Radio 1’s review show during the week and it instantly lifted my mood. Brilliantly summer filled track. I’m not usually one for dance music but this mysterious producer Zhu, no one … Continue reading Faded
New Music Monday is a lovely little cover from the brilliant Glasgow band Chvrches. They performed a little set for radio 1 live lounge last week which included this East 17 cover. I love the modern retro, is that a thing, electro edge they’ve given to it. It was Christmas number 1 as well so keeps with the festive feeling. Continue reading Thought I heard you Say you Loved Me
I heard Izzy Bizu on Zane Lowe last week and instantly fell in love. I had to get my phone out to Shazam the radio to make sure I didn’t forget her name. This girl is only 18 and hails from London. Her musical influences range from Ella Fitzgerald and Betty Swan to Amy Winehouse, not surprising then that she has beautiful jazzy soulful voice. … Continue reading White Tiger
Half Moon Run are a Canadian Indie Rock group. This little threesome prove there’s more to Canada’s music scene than Justin Bieber and Bryan Adams. Their sound is a mix of indie, pop and folk and are becoming more and more popular since supporting the likes of Mumford and Sons on tour. They’ve only been together for two years but these are talented boys and … Continue reading Call Me In the Afternoon
