Above the Clouds of Pompeii

Bears Den are three guys formed in West London into a pretty fine little alternative folk band. I heard these guys on a Radio 1 In Session show a few weeks ago. I actually stayed in the car to listen to another song as I instantly loved them.

There’s a definite air of the likes of Mumford and Sons and Bombay Bicycle Club and that’s not a bad thing. A handclap and funky beat have their places and I do love them; but equally I love a beautiful melody with highly expressive lyrics. That’s the old romantic in me.

This is the song I heard on radio 1 which pulled me in and kept me listening so it’s only fair I feature this. Their album Islands is due out in October and every track I’ve heard so far I’ve liked. Their cover of Drake’s Hold On is pretty special too.
