You know I’m a total sucker for a band from my hometown, well these guys aren’t quite from Glasgow but Kilmarnock is pretty close. I heard a track from them last week and I’ve been listening to their abum. I Am and Island, all weekend. Your quintessential rock/indie four peice with two guiatrists, a bassest and a drummer. They create wonderful anthemnic tunes which are just begging to be played at festivals. They’ll get a chance to do just that at T in the park in the famous King Tuts tent in a few weeks.
I have a few favourites already from the album, Kiteers and Lights for a start. I Like Not Knowing really stands out though, maybe why it was picked as the first single from the album. The track switches from full on verses to a delicate sweeping chorus with poignant lyrics ‘I don’t know where we are going, I can hazard a guess, but I like not knowing.’ I can’t resist lead vocals with an accent, even better if it’s a Scottish one like these guys.
