You have probably heard of these guys before as they have been played on few radio stations in the last few months. They are a four piece from Manchester, described as alternative their songs can vary quite a bit. There are some with a real rock beat and strong lyrics and others with a soft indie vibe you could float away to. I really love the tone of the lead singers, Matthew Healy, voice.
I first heard them about a year ago on Huw Stephen’s radio 1 show. He plays a lot of newly signed bands and I like his taste in music. From there I bought their EP which came out last summer, well worth a listen. Huw’s also been playing this track a lot and its featured on some of the other more mainstream daytime shows.
They’ve just released a new EP, Music for Cars, which this song is from. I quite simply love it, the catchy tune makes me want to sing along and it gets stuck in your head all day. It reminds me of 80’s teen movies like the The Breakfast Club, I think its the backing beat that does it. The rest of the EP is a bit different, a lot more mellow and low key. This is by far my favourite but ‘Head, Cars, Bending’ has a great little clappy back beat to it as well.
As always let me know what you think!
Thanks for sharing, I love this song. I’m not big on radio, but do listen to Annie Mac and Zane Lowe every now and again on IPlayer, but I think I may have to add Huw Stephens to my favourites list.
His Download is free and it has full tracks on it. So many bands I discovered through him 🙂
I have heard this song loads lately and I’ve never managed to work out who it was so thank you!!
It is incredibly catchy, might have a cheeky purachse of their EP!
This is quite different to the other songs in the EP have a wee listen to the sample on iTunes
