The lack of a summer holiday was really starting to have an effect. I was craving some proper sun and a change of scenery. London was the answer.
A quick train ride down on Friday afternoon gave us a weekend to explore. The balmy Friday evening was spent sipping cocktails in Soho and Days were spent strolling around some new areas.
Saturday morning we took a stroll through the stunning St James Park, next time I’ll take some bread to feed the friendly squirrels. Onto Kensington where I failed to convince the man to buy me some new shoes in Harrods. Best start saving myself for some Louboutins.
By far my favourite spot was Nottinghill Market. I didn’t buy anything just soaked up some atmosphere and admired the pretty trinkets. Nottinghill is my kinda place, this was to short a visit so will be my first stop on my next time.
We stayed in the new CitizenM at Tower Hill. The funky style is highlighted by the penthouse bar with what’s got to be one of the best views in London. The in room iPad which controls everything from the TV to the colour of the lights is pretty cool too, kept me entertained anyway. It’s situated directly above Tower Hill underground so provided a perfect base for our explorations.
No trip to London is complete without a stop in Covent Garden. I know it’s a tourist hotspot but on a warm Saturday night it was perfect. A table outside, delicious food, bottle of wine and amazing street entertainment. What more could a girl want.
