London Calling

I thought I’d share some of my highlights from last nights Brits, for you American’s that our version of the Grammy’s. Firstly Best British Group. I was impressed the vast majority of the nominees were all proper bands, meaning they can actually play an instrument and write a song. I’m so glad Mumford and Sons won, I’ve loved them since I heard Little Lion Man. Their performance last night was great but not as good as the stripped back one from 2011 which I decided to share with you.
One fashion thought? What was Bond girl Berenice Marlohe wearing when she presented their award?

For British Breakthrough Act again there was a good group of proper bands. I can’t believe Ben Howard won, I thought it would go to Rita Ora. I love her too btw, perfect Friday night tunes, but Howard’s album is beautiful. He won best male too!
What can I say about Emeli Sandi, good Scottish girl! Best British female, Best Album and an amazing performance! Her voice is incredible and her album is sublime.Shes’s got such a cool look too. I love the quiff and even an outfit change, go Emeli!

For the international acts, also known as Americans as lets face it everyone who wins this is. Lana Del Ray got Best International Female, so glad she won. I first heard her on Fearne Cotton’s radio 1 show about a two years ago. I loved Video Games immediately. She was however, completely outshone by Sharon Osbourne in the style stakes. Hats off to you Sharon for the McQueen bling.
Lastly and by no means least, Best International band. An amazing group of nominees with The Black Keys winning! If haven’t bought El Camino yet, download it now, right now! I’ve been obsessed with it for months! This is my favourite song from the album thought its a tough choice they are all brilliant!
