I’m back from a gorgeous week in the sun, I really wish we’d booked longer than a week now. After a busy year we had a week of doing not very much at all in Marmaris, Turkey.
We arrived about 5pm on the first day and enjoyed a Turkish bath that evening, this is highly recommend if you go to Turkey. You’re placed in the steam room for around 5minutes to allow you skin the soften then we were taken to the main room, which is marble and similar to a steam room but not as intense. We lay down on the marble and were scrubbed from head to toe with a specifically designed mitt. We were then covered with warm bubbles, this feels like a blanket being thrown over you, and given a full body massage. It prepares your skin for the sun, helping your tan apparently and is great for reviving you after a long flight.
I just wanted to relax on this holiday so didn’t want to fill it with activities. I spent most mornings sunbathing by the pool or in it. The pool was pretty cold, standard in outdoor holiday pools I think. It was great to jump in and cool off when temperatures hit 30. The afternoons we would take a wander to the centre of Marmaris and enjoy a nice lunch and normally cocktails. Perfect days really.
One day we took a trip on the water taxi to near by Iclemer for the market. I was a little disappointed that it has been largely taken over by fake designer goods stalls, Marmaris town centre was full of them. Thankfully there was still enough traditional stalls for me to perfect my haggling skills buying a few presents and gorgeous cashmere scarf for myself.
So now I’m back in Glasgow and dreading work tomorrow, oh and I’m waking up before 8am as my body doesn’t appear to have adjusted to UK time yet. At least I have my tan to show off, not that impressive really, and some more photos to take of my camera which I’m looking forward to.
