Fresh from the Barber Shop or Fly from the Beauty Salon

At the end of April I was invited along to the INAA finalists event for the Scottish Hair and Beauty Awards. My friends Roz and Bex were also invited. Bex took some amazing photos, which I featured below. I’ll admit I hadn’t heard of the hosts website before. INAA stands for I need an appointment and helps you find beauty salons in your local area and book an appointment. The website is pretty good and easy to navigate, worth checking out.

The event was held in 29 private members club in Glasgow. After a short introduction from INAA and chat from Lauren Goodger, she was promoting her beauty brand Lauren’s Way; we got to sample some beauty goodies.

A few of the short listed companies, GHD, Bare Minerals, OPI, Lauren’s Way and Bumble and Bumble, where there to show of their new products and offering makeovers. You can find all the details of the finalists and the awards here.

I can’t live without my straighteners so I headed straight for GHD. Their new eclipse styler is pretty snazzy, it has fancy sensors to stop you losing heat and so straightens your hair faster. They had an impressive demo taming some serious afro curls without a problem. You can find out all about them here.

The OPI guys very kindly gave us all a free nail polish in the goody bag. I’ve not tried it out yet as my shellac nails are still in tact. Orange isn’t really my colour but this bright shade will be good for summer.

The lovely ladies at Bumble and Bumble were giving anyone who was prepared to wait some major restyling! The hairdresser Bee’s hairdo’s were amazing and she had some great stories from the fashion weeks she had worked at. Ros was up first and opted for a sky high beehive.

I asked if I she could magic some volume into my super flat hair. She duly did, with a bit of help from this and this. I just wish I could make my hair look like this. Loving how the hair matches the sixties vibe of my outfit.

beautiful Bee who created my amazing hair

Which brings us nicely to what I wore. This skirt I got in TKMaxx and just love, monochrome is without a doubt my favourite trend this spring. This top was a bargain, it’s from Reiss but I picked it up on eBay for less than a tenner!

The event was great, perfect venue and chance to see what these companies can offer you. I’m interested to see if any of the win any awards. After all the make overs and free cocktails we just time for some drunken fun before home for bed…
