Crybaby is Danny Coughlan, Bristol born guitarist. I heard this song on Made In Chelsea, yes it’s my guilty pleasure I’ll admit it. The few bars of the chorus I heard really caught my attention so I instantly stuck the lyrics into google to find the track.
I downloaded the self-titled album as it was less than a tenner on ITunes. If I didn’t know better I could easily have believed it had come straight out of the 60’s. It reminds me of my childhood listening to the likes of Elvis Costello and Roy Orbison with my mother.
I love the vintage tone he has to his voice and the melancholy in his heartbroken lyrics. The lyrics in fact bring in an element of Morrissey, that’s about as modern a reference as I can think of for him. Maybe I should tag this post Old Music Monday?
