Getting a Tattoo, Getting Ink Done

Latin-motto-tattoo

Latin-motto-shoulder-tattooFinally getting my 35 at 35 list started, with No. 32 ticked off.  I’ve been wanting this tattoo for literally years so my list has spurred me on.

Some of you may be aware that I’m a solicitor in my real life. I am also a Notary Public and have a motto which appears on my notary seal. This is something which will be with me for life so I wanted to pick something meaningful, not your standard Latin legal quote. I’d wanted to be a solicitor since early high school but I didn’t make it easy for myself. Life can be tough and sometimes it’s hard to focus on what you want through all the rubbish that’s going on. I somehow managed to and got my degree and a job doing exactly what I had set out to. In short, I made it.

My motto reflects this translating as ‘Through Difficulty to the Heights’. If there’s a point to this post, its dream big and don’t give up. It may not be easy but if you really want it you can do it. Oh and it’ll be worth it in the end, I promise.

  1. That’s awesome! I’ve debated getting a tattoo for a while now and I’m still trying to decide whether to or not. I might have to add it to my list, which whenever I get the chance I’ll be sure to put it onto my blog. Hopefully I can accomplish my goals in life like you have. I would like to be able to say that I’ve “made it” as well in the future. Are you planning on getting more tattoos done? I like how you chose something that’s meaningful to you and not just trying to “fit in” with the crowd. Nice post! Very interesting read! 👍

    1. There’s still plenty more I want to do, not made it with everything yet. Think really carefully before you get a tattoo, I’ve got three and thought about them for a good year or two before getting them, I do love though

  2. I had no idea you were a solicitor actually, that kicks ass! That used to my aspiration when I grew up..things change hahah! I love your tatoo, I sometimes favour text over images especially delicate ones and I think it was positioned really well xx

  3. Ooo lovely! One of My tattoos is exactly the same spot and I always get compliments on it as it isn’t a very common placement!
Good choice with the moto :). Mine says “Papy” with 2 snowflakes, as it was midwinter when My father passed away.
